Purpose

The purpose of our study was to see which phone is more superior at North Olmsted High School: Iphone or Android. We think this would be an interesting study to conduct because these are the two biggest phone producers in the world, and we'd like to find out which phone is more popular. This has also been a question we have been wanting to find an answer to for a long time. Also over the last few months we have heard a lot of people arguing which brand of phone is more popular, Iphone or Android. We started to wonder and decided this was a great thing to find out in our school. This is why we chose this as our comprehensive project.

Abstract

We conducted a study to see which phone brand is used more in North Olmsted High School. We sent out surveys to 150 students to see whether they carry an Iphone or Android. We found studies that were similar to our test but none were exactly alike. The ones we found were usually testing another variable while testing the proportion iPhone and android in their sample. We decided to use Iphone and Androids because they are the most popular phone brands used by people. By using a random generator on minitab, we selected 150 students for our study. With the data we collected we were able to determine what proportion of phone brand was more superior by using a 1-Proportion Z Test through Minitab. When we conducted the test we found our p-value to be 0.027. This value is less than our alpha, level of significance of 0.05. So we end up rejecting our null hypothesis. Therefore, there is significant evidence that shows the proportion of Iphones in our school is larger than the proportion of Androids in our school.
