Attendance
Success in chemistry is dependent upon daily attendance.
It is very difficult to catch up when a student is repeatedly absent.
In the event of an absence, all make-up work is the responsibility of the
student. A list of assignments for
each day will be posted for the student’s reference.
Students should contact Mrs. Deir
before or after school, NOT at the start
or conclusion of the class period for make-up work.
The time frame policy for make-up work is the same as stated in the
student/parent handbook. In cases
of serious illness, make-up work will be arranged with the teacher.
No late work will be accepted for
credit.
When you are absent from a class the following steps should be followed in order
to obtain make-up work:
1.
Look on bulletin board for information on what was covered on the day of your
absence.
2.
Check your folder for any handouts or returned assignments given.
3.
Check with a classmate for any missed notes or refer to the instructor’s binder
for notes.
4.
Make an appointment with the teacher for a time to re-schedule tests, quizzes,
etc. or for help on material missed.
5.
Check with teacher at the end of class for clarification or to confirm an
appointment.
Behavior
In order to ensure a safe and positive environment conducive to learning, the
following guidelines for classroom conduct will be implemented:
Classroom Conduct Guidelines:
1.
Be respectful to yourself and
others. This includes materials of
fellow classmates, teachers, of the classroom itself.
Please use appropriate language.
Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak or move about the room.
2.
Be responsible!
Have all necessary materials ready and
be in your assigned seat completing assignments when the bell rings.
3.
Persevere!
Do your best work and help others to do
their best. Hard work really does
pay off!
4.
All other school rules stated in the student handbook apply.
Infraction of any of the above rules will be disciplined by the following
system:
Consequences:
1st time:
Verbal Warning
2nd time:
15-minute detention after school with teacher
3rd time:
30-minute detention after school with teacher and call to parent
4th time:
Office referral
Students will be immediately removed from class for major offenses such as
fighting, insubordination, destruction, creating an unsafe laboratory
environment, or behavior that interferes with the learning process of others.
