Projects

The following projects were proposed during Leadership Camp. If you have any questions about them, please see the designated contact.

Senior Citizens | Recycling | Veterans | Community Action | Frostville

Senior Citizens
Designated Contacts: AM: Keri W.  PM: Jenna C.

  • Canned Food Drive
    • "Two-Can" Dance for senior citizens
    • Collect cans of food in schools. Some type of prize for winner.
  • Trick-or-Toiletries
    • Announce/Advertize in schools one-two weeks before hand
    • Go around and "trick for toiletries" instead of treats
  • Herb garden at the senior citizen center
    • Start sometime during early spring
    • Need to find underwriter/sponsor
  • Emergency Preparedness
    • Make file folder to put on each refrigerator of senior citizen's home with medical information, concerns, allergies, etc.
    • Place sticker on window of senior citizen's homes alerting EMS teams of the file folder in event of emergency

Recycling

  • Initiate recycling in schools
    • Give presentations in schools, make fliers, etc.
    • Get students involved in the effort
    • Use profit money to improve schools and/or community

Veterans

  • Salute to Veterans
    • Tuesday, November 6th
    • Host breakfast for veterans (1st Period)
    • Veterans write letters to elementary school students
    • Presentations, music from orchestra, etc. for veterans (2nd Period)
    • 10th grade question and answer session with veterans (3rd Period)

Community Action

  • Trip to Cleveland Food Bank
    • After school trip with 20 - 30 students
    • Help out packaging and preparing food
    • "Book bag Program:" Fill book bag with food for young students so that they have food over the weekend
  • School Spirit Initiative
    • Host a dance after the last home game of the season
    • Admission would be around $6.00 and a can of food
    • We would use our own music (iPod) to save money on DJ
    • Students would only wear orange/black/white during the day and during the dance

Frostville

  • Living History
    • Interview 30 people and video tape for future viewing
    • Around 3 students per interview
    • Hold at locations such as Frostville, library, high school, etc.
    • Would have a set of questions to get going
    • Start late January / early February
    • Create pilot videos to demo to seniors ASAP
  • Haunted House
