Students are always talking about how much they hate North Olmsted High School.  The building has almost no air conditioning.  The walls are painted a different color on each side.  The carpet is held together by tape.  Teachers, on the other hand, say we should appreciate the school and that we are lucky to go to school here.

To address whether or not teachers differed from students on their opinion of the school, I asked 60 students and 20 teachers to rate the overall quality of NOHS on a scale of one through five.  I sent out anonymous surveys in the hopes that both teachers and students would respond with their honest opinion.

With my collected data, I entered the values for both students and teachers into Minitab and preformed a two sample t test.  Since my sample of teachers was less than 30, I had to assume that the population of teachers' ratings would have been normal.  The p-value was less than alpha at the 0.05 level of significance.  I therefore concluded that the mean value of teacher ratings differed significantly from student ratings.
