Statement of the Problem
Do females receive higher scores than males on the
ACT? My sample size is 80 students at North Olmsted High
School. The purpose of the study is to try to figure out if
one gender (females) dominates the other gender in ACT test
scores. I decided to do this study because I thought it
would be intresting to see how the guys and girls at NOHS
compare and if their scores are any different at all.
Abstract
I concluded that female scores are not higher than
males. My problem was to see if female scores are higher
than males because I've read in the past that they usually
do better academically and my background research supports
that. Out of the 80 surveys sent out, I didn't think only 28
would respond with actual scores. I also thought it was
surprising that a lot more males responded than females. I
think that it would have been a more accurate study if I
gathered all the names of people who actually took the ACT
so that there would be then same number of males and
females.
