Android vs. iPhone

North Olmsted High School

Abstract

This study was designed for two different purposes. One was to see if there was a difference in proportion of phone brand ownership between boys and girls in North Olmsted High School. The other purpose was to see if the proportion of Android users for boys was different than the proportion of Androaid users for girls. This study was designed and ran with the idea in mind that girls and boys tend to pick a phone brand based on their gender, however we do also recognize that many other factors go into choosing a phone brand other than gender. One big thing about this study we didn't consider was how people could have a phone that wasn't either iPhone or Androaid. While this problem wasn't present in out sample, it is something to keep in mind as there are more options than just iPhone and Android. When our study was finished, we found that the proportion of Android users was less than the population proportion of 0.45, meaning that we will actually see less than 45% of our population choosing an Android whenever we pool a sample from the population.
