Abstract

Fifty AOL and fifty Imation floppy disks were tested in our study. If a disk had at least one bad cluster it was marked as a flawed disk. Otherwise, it was marked as a good disk. After checking all 100 floppies, all AOL disks were marked good and 49 Imation disks were marked good. The 95% confidence interval is (-1.0388, -.9612). This means that for 95% of all samples taken, the difference of proportions will fall within that range.

For the Z-test, the null hypothesis was that there is no difference between AOL and Imation disks. The alternative hypothesis is that there is a difference between AOL and Imation disks. The result of the Z-test rejects the alternative hypotheses. Therefore, there is no difference between AOL and Imation disks.
